Santa Maria Councilmember Endorses Cunningham For Assembly
Templeton, CA— Taxpayer advocate and Candidate for Assembly, Jordan Cunningham has received the endorsement of Santa Maria City Councilwoman Etta Waterfield.
A Member of the Santa Maria Planning Commission for over a decade and currently elected to City Council, Waterfield’s knowledge of public policy and emphasis on local job creation has greatly benefitted the city in which she represents as well as the surrounding area.
“Over the years, I’ve witnessed Jordan’s commitment to providing a voice for the taxpayers and hard-working families of this region,” said Waterfield. “He understands the unique qualities of each community in the District and will use his experience to strengthen our economy, create jobs, and provide a safer and stronger future.”
In an Assembly District that includes both San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties, any candidate that hopes to succeed the termed-out Assemblyman Katcho Achadjian understands that district-wide support is a must. And although Cunningham announced his candidacy last week, Waterfield’s endorsement sends an early message to potential opponents.
Jordan Cunningham is currently the President of the Central Coast Taxpayers Association as well as the SLO County Lincoln Club. Once a Deputy District Attorney who prosecuted offenses including fraud, assault and domestic violence; he now works as an attorney for a private practice and defends local families and business owners.
In 2014, Cunningham was elected as a Trustee to the Templeton Unified School District where he works with fellow board members and employs smart fiscal policies to enhance classroom experience and student performance. As the father of four, Cunningham is also a dedicated youth mentor, volunteering with local programs and organizations.
