Public safety organizations endorse Cunningham for Assembly
Templeton, CA— With crime on the rise in California, it matters which state Assembly candidate public safety organizations believe will best be able to support law enforcement and keep our communities safe. Many of those organizations have chosen to endorse former Deputy District Attorney Jordan Cunningham to represent San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties in the state Legislature.
California Correctional Peace Officers Association President Chuck Alexander said Cunningham’s background as a prosecutor has enabled him to understand firsthand the importance of prioritizing public safety. “Sacramento needs more leaders like Jordan, who understand what’s at stake and has the expertise to provide commonsense solutions to the problems that threaten the safety of our community,” he said. “He’s undoubtedly the right fit for the job.”
Crime Victims United Chair Harriet Salarno said, “As a former deputy district attorney, Jordan Cunningham spent years of his life prosecuting criminals and keeping them off our streets, while providing justice for the victims he represented. Jordan’s public safety experience and ability to work with law enforcement organizations will be critical during this time of increased turmoil.”
California State Sheriffs’ Association President Sheriff Donny Youngblood said, “Jordan is a proven voice on public safety issues for the Central Coast. As a former deputy district attorney, he has worked with local law enforcement, kept criminals behind bars and families safe in their homes. His experience and commitment to a safer future will be welcomed at the state level, and we look forward to working with him.”
Peace Officers Research Association of California President Michael Durant said, “As peace officers, we appreciate Jordan Cunningham’s commitment to working with the men and women in uniform, and we look forward to partnering with him on issues involving public safety and law enforcement. Based on his experience and actions, it’s clear that the safety of those on the Central Coast will always be his first priority.”
Other public safety organizations supporting Cunningham’s campaign include the California Association of Highway Patrolmen and California Professional Firefighters.
Cunningham expressed his appreciation for the endorsement of so many law enforcement organizations. “I am honored by their support, and will continue to be a strong advocate for public safety as a member of the state Assembly,” he said.
Cunningham lives in Templeton with his wife, Shauna, and their four children.
