Mayor of Santa Maria endorses Jordan Cunningham for Assembly
Templeton, CA— School board member and candidate for Assembly, Jordan Cunningham, has received the endorsement of former educator and current Mayor for the City of Santa Maria, Alice Patino. She becomes the third member of the Santa Maria council to support Cunningham’s campaign – joining Mayor Pro Tem Etta Waterfield and Councilmember Jack Boysen, and giving Cunningham the support of a majority of the elected leaders for the City of Santa Maria.
A member of the city council since 2000, Patino dedicated much of her career to the area’s students as a teacher for both the Santa Maria and Bonita school districts. She has also been recognized for her service with local organizations such as the Santa Maria Joint Union School Board, Human Relations Commission for Santa Barbara County, and the Marian Medical Foundation Board.
“Jordan is a proven leader for this community who will provide an independent and pragmatic voice for the residents of our region,” said Patino. “He has demonstrated a commitment to working with all leaders, no matter their political affiliation, to address the tough issues. This will make him an asset for us in Sacramento.”
A dedicated public servant, Jordan Cunningham spent a number of years working as a Deputy District Attorney for San Luis Obispo County, where he prosecuted a wide variety of crimes, including fraud, assault, domestic violence, and environmental crimes. He is the former President of the Central Coast Taxpayers Association and a member of the Templeton Unified School Board.
As a father of four, Cunningham is deeply concerned with the status of the state’s public education system, and as an Assemblyman, he will ensure local educators have the authority and resources needed to provide a quality education and constructive classroom environment.
The co-founder of the Cunningham Law Group, Jordan currently uses his legal expertise to advocate on behalf of individuals, families and small business owners. He lives in Templeton with his wife, Shauna, and their four children.
