You shouldn’t need a dictionary to decode how Sacramento politicians are spending your tax dollars.
Other states, like Ohio, have modernized their systems and make full agency budgets available online in an easy to see format that lists line-by-line where money is being spent.
California is considered the worst state in the country for budget transparency based on how easily the public can access the state’s spending data.
California’s $125 billion budget was the largest on record and is filled with broken promises diverting money away from intended causes. It isn’t easily accessible to find out how tax dollars are being spent and that is a real problem.
Californians deserve to know how their hard-earned tax dollars are spent.
